Current Guidelines for Visiting - Updated June 25, 2021

Abhayagiri is open to the general public for day visits, but we ask that day visitors please follow the below health and safety guidelines. If you wish to stay overnight, please contact Abhayagiri in advance using this page :

Guidelines for Day Visitors :

  • Visitors may go into the Free Distribution Book Room and the Public Restrooms but otherwise please do not enter the buildings. When there are visitors at meal time, then around 11am, there will be a blessing by the monastic community in the main Dhamma Hall. Visitors may sit in the shaded breezeway just outside the Dhamma Hall. Visitors are welcome to walk around the cloister and the monastery trails and also to sit in any of the outside areas.

  • No registration is required before visiting for the day.

  • Offerings for Abhayagiri are welcome and should be left on the table outside the kitchen.

  • Visitors wishing to participate in evening puja and listen to evening Dhamma talks may sit outside the Dhamma Hall in chairs or on a cushion and mat.
