Upāsika Day - Developing the Factor of Interest
Dear Dhamma friends,
On Saturday, June 13th from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm, Abhayagiri Monastery will be offering an Upāsika Day program. The topic for this day will be “Developing the Factor of Interest”. The Buddha taught that it is difficult to succeed at something if we have no interest in it. Together we will explore ways to get interested in Dhamma practice. The schedule will be as follows (subject to adaptability):
Times are Pacific Time
9am - Come together for chanting and 30 minutes of meditation.
10am - Taking of refuges and precepts, and a Dhamma Talk
11am - Meal offering
1pm - Dhamma reading and Q&A/discussion
2pm - Meditation (30 minutes)
2:30pm - Breakout groups, sharing ideas about how to develop interest in practice (45 minutes)
3:15pm - Come back together, sharing from breakout groups
3:30pm - Chanting and meditation
4:00pm - Closing words and sharing of merit
The regular Saturday night program will then start at 7:00pm.
