Current Guidelines for Visiting - Updated December 23, 2021

The general public is welcome to visit Abhayagiri for day visits. For information on the current health and safety guidelines please see below.

  • Day visitors are welcome to go into the Free Distribution Book Room, the Public Restrooms, and the main Dhamma Hall from after the meal blessing until 1:30pm.

  • The daily meal offering is at 10:45am. The monastic community will offer a meal blessing in the main Dhamma Hall. Day visitors are welcome to sit in the shaded breezeway just outside the Dhamma Hall. After the meal blessing, day visitors are allowed to use the Dhamma Hall for eating their meal and meditation practice until 1:30pm. However, we are still asking day visitors to not enter any of the other buildings.

  • Visitors are also welcome to walk around the cloister and the monastery trails and also to sit in any of the outside areas.

  • No registration is required before visiting for the day.

  • Offerings for Abhayagiri are welcome and should be left on the table outside the kitchen.

  • Visitors wishing to participate in evening puja and listen to evening Dhamma talks are welcome to sit outside the Dhamma Hall in chairs or on a cushion and mat.

If you wish to stay overnight, please contact Abhayagiri on/after April 1st after the winter retreat period finishes.
