Reception Hall Cost Estimation

Construction on the foundation system for the new Reception Hall was able to begin in July as we requested a building permit specifically for the foundation. We are posting a weekly update on our website for people to be able to follow the progress. It includes a short summary along with photos.

Last week we submitted all the finished plans for the building of the whole structure. With that the contractor has researched his own costs, as well as the costs for the sub-contractors. We have been using the same contractor here in the monastery for the past ten years. He has consistently finished whichever project we have been doing on-time and on-budget. His estimate for next year's construction is below. Of course, there may be some adjustment as estimates are usually only valid for 30 days and this is for next year. Still, it should be a close approximation as to the costs we are looking at for this building.

Presently, we are working on the foundations for the building and expect to complete that phase at the beginning of December. We can then have a quiet winter for our winter retreat period and possibly begin construction again in April when the weather permits. The funding for all of this year's work is in place, that is, we have sufficient funds for this year. This covers the contractor's costs for the foundation only, the architect's fees, the engineering costs, and the infrastructure for the fire sprinkler system.

Donations will be used for the construction of the building itself. Any support that people are willing to offer will be much appreciated.
