February 1, 2007
Abhayagiri Monastery residents will be on Winter Retreat for the months of January, February, and March.
During this time, we are not able to accommodate overnight guests, although quiet daytime visits are possible, including those who wish to bring offerings to support the community during the retreat. We will continue to have Saturday evening public talks as usual (7:30 p.m.) as well as the Dhamma talks and late night vigils on Lunar Observance Days (also at 7:30 p.m.) -- please see the calendar for a schedule of the weekly lunar observance days. All are welcome to attend the Saturday night talks and Lunar Observance night talks.
The residents will be practicing Noble Silence, and visitors are asked to help support the silence during their visit by keeping interactions with the monastic community to a minimum.
Our regular routine will resume on April 1, 2007, at which time we will again begin taking reservations for overnight guests.
