Buddhist Bicycle Pilrimage from Spirit Rock to Abhayagiri
On September 25-26, 2010, you are invited to join the cycling sangha on the fourth annual 2 day bicycle pilgrimage from Spirit Rock Meditation Center to Abhayagiri Monastery.
There are many ways to get involved: as a rider, volunteer or supporter.
The bicycle journey will combine aspects of a recreational cycling event with those of a pilgrimage. Riders will meet the physical and mental challenges of the 150 mile route and, along with the volunteer crew, create a traveling community of spiritual seekers.
The journey winds along the scenic backroads of Marin, Sonoma, and Mendocino counties, and includes visits to Sae Taw Win Dhamma Center and the City of Ten Thousand Buddhas. The schedule will include time for meditation and dharma teachings. Ajahn Pasanno will receive the group at the ride's end. Meals, refreshments, mechanical assistance, first aid, gear transportation, and camping accommodations will be offered, allowing cyclists to meet one another and get in shape!
There is no fee or fundraising requirement. The event will be supported through voluntary donations, in the spirit of dana. For more information visit the website of the event organizers at dharmawheels.org.
