Bhikkhu Bodhi to give Dhamma Talk Evening begins at 7:30pm

Abhayagiri Monastery is glad to announce that Venerable Bhikkhu Bodhi is scheduled to visit the monastery from April 9 to 12. This will be his second visit here. During his stay he has been invited to offer the Saturday night Dhamma talk. The evening program commences at 7.30 pm, and will include chanting and silent meditation.

Venerable Bhikkhu Bodhi was born New York City in 1944. He earned a Ph.D. in philosophy from Clairemont Graduate School in 1972. That same year he received sāmanera ordination in Sri Lanka and bhikkhu ordination in 1973. For many years he was the editor and president of the Buddhist Publication Society in Sri Lanka.

In 2002 Venerable Bhikkhu Bodhi returned to the US and currently lives at Chuang Yen Monastery in Carmel, New York. He has translated a number of the ancient Pāli texts, including the Samyutta Nikāya—The Connected Discourses of the Buddha, the Anguttara Nikāya, and he edited and revised the Bhikkhu Ñānamoli translation of the Majjhima Nikāya.
