The monastery is intended as a spiritual home not just for the monastics living there, but for the laypeople as well. Your visits are welcomed.

Come to Abhayagiri, walk through the forest preserve, meditate, have tea with the sangha, offer to help in whatever ways you can and make the monastery a part of your life. The spiritual friendship between lay and monastic communities is a precious gift.

Mealtime | 10:30 am (11am during DST)
An excellent time to visit is the mealtime or just as the meal is finishing (11:30 am-12 pm). The senior monks are generally available to receive guests at this time.

Tea | 5:30 pm
Daily gathering for an informal tea. This is also a good time to visit the monastery ask questions, visit with the abbot, and listen to a reading.

Evening Meditation | 7:30 pm
Every evening the community gathers for meditation and on Saturday a public talk is given following the meditation.
