All-day Interfaith Celebration
On May 26, Ajahn Amaro will offer a Dhamma reflection at an all-day interfaith celebration at the Olema property of the Vedanta Society of Northern California, located in the coastal region of Marin County. This event has been held now for thirty years and includes guest speakers from other religions, joining-in for this day of spiritual talks and discussions, interspersed with music and meditation.
Over the years our guest speakers have included Father Thomas Keating, Professor Seyed Hossein Nasr, Bishop William Swing, Sister Prabhasa Dharma, Rabbi Joseph Gelbermann, Master Hsuan Hua, Rev. Heng Sure, and other spiritual leaders of many different religions. This spiritual festival has become a tradition in this area and the audience is fully responsive to a serious discussion of important spiritual topics.
The program starts at 10 A.M. with songs and meditation, followed by talks by both guest speakers and resident swamis and then questions from the audience. This is then followed by a lunch, which is served to all. The afternoon will include music and a similar session as the morning, on a different, but related topic. The afternoon will include a short meditation after which a supper is served. There is also ample time for members of the audience to approach the guest speakers individually for informal discussion. There is also time for walks on the spacious grounds.
